Welland Cowley's story is an extraordinary one - an industrial engineer turned nurseryman who specializes in growing clivias for a living, which he sells worldwide from his coastal home town of Sedgefield in South Africa.
A closet balladeer who turned to explore his musical talents and songwriting abilities later than most in life. This his first offering, Quarter To Eleven, makes an almost demure debut and has received some immediate acknowledgment from his peers.
Welland Cowley's style draws influence from the many romantics prolific in the 60s and 70s. If you like Orbison, Meat Loaf and Willie Nelson you'll probably really enjoy this, it has a sort of retro-nouveau production that makes it current in a bye-gone way.
